Lightweight composite materials for automotive applications
Sousedík, Jan ; Poláček, Petr (referee) ; Přikryl, Radek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis investigated the influence of lightening filler in the form of hollow glass microbeads on the mechanical properties of composite material. The method chosen for the preparation of composite material was pultrusion. Two types of composite material were prepared as part of the bachelor thesis, specifically epoxy-vinyl ester resin-based composites and unsaturated polyester resin-based composites. Special bulked glass fibres were used as reinforcement. The final composite material was subjected to a three-point flexural test where mechanical properties were monitored. In addition, control of the distribution and adhesion of the filler was performed by using light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
Surface treatment of a composite part
Bahenský, Štěpán ; Žák, Ladislav (referee) ; Kubíček, Jaroslav (advisor)
This diploma thesis focuses on composite materials and the possibility of their surface treatment with a focus on painting. The aim was to create a layer on the surface of the material that would serve as protection against UV radiation and subsequent degradation. The first theoretical part is devoted to the material composition. In the subsections, the different types of functional components of the composites are presented. Their possible applications as well as their advantages and disadvantages are described. In addition, the theoretical part is supplemented by the types of methods used for the production of composite materials and the subsequent surface preparation in order to improve the adhesion properties of the material to the paint. The second part, which was developed in cooperation with GDP Koral, s. r. o., deals with the chosen type of surface treatment for composite materials produced by the pultrusion method. The UV coating method was chosen, where the wet layer of the varnish is cured by UV radiation. Two sets of samples were created, which differ in both the method of varnish application and the parameters of the curing process. Mechanical tests were then performed on each sample to verify the resulting adhesion capability of the paint system. The practical part also includes the design of possible technologies for the implementation of the surface treatment in the production line. In the third part, a techno-economic evaluation is presented, which focuses on the cost comparison of standard painting and painting with UV varnishes. The final section contains a summary of the findings and an evaluation of the chosen type of coating with respect to the results of mechanical tests and the possibilities of application in a pultrusion production process.
Properties of pultruded composites based on epoxy matrix
Huljak, Pavel ; Bálková, Radka (referee) ; Přikryl, Radek (advisor)
The theoretical part of this bachelor thesis deals with research of composite materials, especially based on polymer epoxy and polyester resins, using as reinforcement a glass fiber bundles. The practical section includes the production of composite materials and their components along with the most important testing methods. The main goal of the experimental part is to characterize the optimal conditions pultrusion production of epoxy composite material. Another point is characterization of mechanical and chemical properties of the produced composite at a number of test methods. Finally the optimized epoxy composite materials are compared with composites based on polyester resins.

Jastrzembská, Alena ; Petránek, Vít (referee) ; Bodnárová, Lenka (advisor)
This thesis deals with the theoretical part of raw materials, production and properties of composite materials with fiber reinforcement and polymer matrix. It also gives a brief overview of selected prominent Czech and foreign producers of composite materials with polymer matrix and fiber reinforcement. The practical section deals with testing the durability of selected composite profiles immersion in aggressive environments and testing of compressive strength.

Bábíček, Ondřej ; Kočiš, Petr (referee) ; Tůma, Jiří (advisor)
The subject of the bachelor thesis is to design pulling mechanism of pultrusion line based on research in the area of composite technology and individual types of mechanisms produced. Practical part aims on analysis suitable components and also own design including sample of drawing documentation.
Production technology and processing of carbon composites
Bouchal, Petr ; Sliwková, Petra (referee) ; Píška, Miroslav (advisor)
Bachelor´s thesis is focused on manufacturing technology of carbon fibers composites. In the first part there is an introduction to the components of the composite materials and basic overview of the types of production. In the following part the topic of pultrusion is further discussed. In the last part is bending test run.
Production technology of dental composite
Menčík, Přemysl ; Poláček, Petr (referee) ; Přikryl, Radek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the development and processing of the device useful for pulling and cutting of dental fiber reinforced composite prepreg. The main goal was the designing, assembling and testing of the device and making of the technical documentation of its all components. Furthermore, the developed apparatus was implemented and tested in the industrial production.
Composites based on natural fibers
Hahn, Filip ; Poláček, Petr (referee) ; Přikryl, Radek (advisor)
The theoretical part of this bachelor thesis deals with current state of art in the field of composite materials based on natural fibers and polymer matrices, and with production methods of the composite materials. The practical part focuses on the testing of the mechanical properties of sisal and flax fibers and on their chemical treatment by NaOH solution. The above mentioned fibers and unsaturated polyester resin were used to produce composite materials by means of pultrusion process. The flexural properties of the material samples were tested and compared to those of glass fiber composites.
Pultrusion process optimizing of composites based on epoxy matrix
Ostrezi, Jan ; Bábík, Adam (referee) ; Přikryl, Radek (advisor)
The theoretical part of this bachelor thesis deals with current progress in the field of long fibre reinforenced composites with matrix based on epoxy resins. It also deals with production methods of composite materials, especially pultrusion. The practical part is based on pultrusion process optimizing of composites profiles based on epoxy matrix. Profiles were examined by DMA test to set the glass transition temperature.
Pultrusion process of composite based on flax fibres
Hahn, Filip ; Poláček, Petr (referee) ; Přikryl, Radek (advisor)
Theoretical part of master's thesis is focused on chemical treatments of natural fibers and their use as reinforcement material in polymer composites. Flax fibers were treated with two different silane coupling agents to improve their adhesion with polymer matrix. Nature of treatment was studied by using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Composites based on both treated and untreated flax fibers were prepared by pultrusion.technique. Mechanical properties and water absorption of prepared composites were evaluated.
